Medical complications of Anorexia Nervosa

with purging (vomiting)

Metabolic disturbance.  This results in a difficulty in maintaining a stable weight.  Fluctuations in weight will be evident.

Dental erosion and tooth decay.  The family dentist is often the first medical professional to pick up the purging or vomiting pattern.

 

3.

Seizures, weakness, fatigue, mild cognitive disorder (i.e. difficulty concentrating).
